Special Novena Starts December 12th

Prayer for the Canonization of the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people.

If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a Saint.

We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

Special Christmas Project: Still Time!

BOX OF JOY

The Box of Joy program is an opportunity for you to provide a Christmas gift to a child less fortunate, in poverty stricken nations, through Cross Catholic Outreach. This year your Peoria Diocesan Council of Catholic Women is encouraging all parishes to participate. 

You may choose to fill a box of your own (any regular-size shoebox or plastic box (approx. 12” x 5” will work), or we have a supply of empty Box of Joy boxes.  Please include a $9 donation per box to cover the shipping cost, or if that is an issue, please call me and we will see what we can do to help.

Choose the age group 2-4 years, 5-9 years, or 10-14 years old, and you may choose a boy or a girl as the recipient.

When the box is filled and ready to ship, please call me at 815-249-6411 or 815-483-3013.  You may also call a DCCW board member (Jane Harris in Peoria at 309-645-7321) near you.  For 2019, we ask that all boxes arrive in Peoria at the Spalding Pastoral Center by November 7^th.  Please call so we can arrange the best way to do this.

Thank you for providing a Christmas gift to a child who would otherwise have none.

Special Vicariate Masses Scheduled!

The Peoria Diocesan Council of Catholic Women continues our recent tradition of having Masses said across the diocese for a special intention.  This year, that intention is for the concerns of human trafficking and immigration, which are closely linked.  We thank Jennifer Willems for including this information in the September 1st edition of The Catholic Post.  We are including the listing here so you can easily find it even when your paper is in the recycling bin!

Joining to pray in community at Mass for these causes is one way we all can petition God and bring attention to the need for God's guidance and mercy as decisions are made on matters of immigration and human trafficking.  Current board members heading this effort are Melissa Appell, Human Trafficking Concerns Chair and Barbara Harzman, Immigrations Concerns Chair.
